Post-Doctoral Alumni

Steve Kajiura was a post-doc from 2001-2003 working on biomechanics and biochemistry of shark cartilage. He is very interested in thefunctional morphology of hammerhead sharks.

His dissertation work, at the University of Hawaii, was on electroreception and prey detection in cartilaginous fishes.

Steve is now an assistant professor at Florida Atlantic University.

Brook Swanson was a postdoc with Cheryl Hayashi at UC Riverside on spider silk material properties. He collaborated with the biomechanics lab on the evolution of material properties of silk. He was a visiting member of the UCI Biomechanics Lab from 2005-2006.

Brook got his PhD in Alice Gibb's lab at Northern Arizona University, and he is now a visiting assistant professor at Pacific University.

Eliot Drucker was an NSF supported post-doc working with George Lauder on the experimental hydrodynamics of fish locomotion. He was in the UCI Biomechanics Lab from 2001-2003.

Eliot is now the chief scientist at the advocacy group Washington Trout.
