Graduate Alumni

marianne

Marianne Porter
2002 Fall
Advanced to Candidacy
Wainwright Fellowship 2005

Marianne received a Master's degree from Northern Arizona University where she studied riparian plant communities. She is currently testing the biochemical composition and material properties of shark vertebrae.

Marianne is now a post-doctoral fellow at Vassar College.

Justin

Dr. Justin Schaefer
Ph.D. 2002-2007

Sigma Xi Grant in Aid
Holcolm Fellowship (UCI)

Justin, a native of Southern California, received a Master's degree from the University of Connecticut where he studied the energetics of fathead minnows in Eric Schultz' lab. His dissertation was on the structure and mechanics of flapping flight in stingrays.

Justin is now a post-doctoral fellow at Brown University.

Jennie

Jennie Beltran
M.Sc. 2005-2007

MBRS Fellow 2005
NSF REU Fellow

Jennie did her undergraduate work at UCI including research in the lab that netted her an 'Excellence in Research' designation on her diploma. Her master's work on the properties of spider silk was a collaborative effort with Cheryl Hayashi at Riverside and Todd Blackledge at the University of Akron.

Reynier

Reyneier Jacinto
M.Sc 2005-2007

MBRS Fellow 2005

Sigma Xi Grant in Aid 2006

Reynier did his undergraduate degree at UCI. His master's research was on the peculiar morphology of the Rockhead Pacher. He is particularly interested in sound production in these fishes. His project is in collabration with Dr. Sheila Patek.
